My 6 & 7 year olds did these for their friends…on their free time..
Apparently they did them primarily to share with friends at school, to avail these little hearts, should the friends need some, when embellishing valentine’s day cards for their parents! (Don’t worry, my husband and I still got ourselves awesome V-day cards from our kids ;))
The cut-outs were simple enough to do as they used this device:
However, writing “Love Mom,” “Love Dad,” neatly and repeatedly on those two piles of little hearts took my 6 & 7 year olds quite a few hours prior to this Valentine’s Day, as they were doing so albeit having flu and managing daily schoolworks & things. Nobody assigned them this task nor gave them the idea. In essence, they did not have to do those but wanted to.
I found this act so simple yet thoughtful. I can’t help feeling pride and thankfulness as I realized my kids have been exercising a special kind of love; compassion, something still elusive even to many adults.
They have certainly also privileged me to experience love as a parent.
On this day as I reflect on many kinds of love, I wish for everyone out there..
May your days be filled
With many kinds of love
Wherever whenever you are
As simple and as grand
As you may wish or stumble upon!
Happy bonding! 😉
